About the Project

I’m Lily, and I’ll be an Artist-in-Residence on Mackinac Island this September. I’ll be presenting a free haiku class for visitors and residents of all ages. During the class, attendees will learn to write haiku and have time to practice writing a few of their own.

Whether you attend the class or not, I’ll be accepting haiku submissions to be published in 2027 as a collection of haiku inspired by Mackinac Island. That means YOU could be a published poet!

How to Submit Your Haiku

  1. You may submit only once per person, up to three haiku. Only one haiku per author will be included in the collection.
  2. Fill out the Google Form with your first name (as you’d like it to appear in publication), age, hometown, and email address.* You may opt out of including your name.
  3. Submit your haiku directly into the text box within the Google Form. Please review your haiku carefully before submitting to ensure line breaks appear as intended.
  4. If you are submitting on behalf of other family members, such as your children, you may fill out the form for them using their information (please use your email address if your family member does not have one).

*Your email address will not be used for any other purpose than to communicate project updates and publication of your work.
